The Corn Maze
The big project for The Farm In Harmony this year is the Corn Maze. We have never done a corn maze before, but decided to jump in. Because, if not now, when? Each year our corn maze will recognize the sacrifices those have made for our nation and our freedoms.
The natural place to start was to put up a small greenhouse to get our own plants started for 2017. After spending 2016 experimenting with what grew well, we developed our 2017 offerings.
In the spring of 2016 we planted half a dozen apple trees, to see how they faired with the deer. While we almost lost one to Japanese Beetles, we are happy to report they survived the season from deer.
The Road Hard To Travel
It’s almost Spring, 2017 and we are semi-patiently awaiting it to arrive so we can start our first plants in our small, new greenhouse.
The journey for me started after the life changing experience of losing my husband Fred. Vietnam Veteran (helicopter pilot) hero, role model, inspiration, and just an all around fun guy. He had Parkinson’s, contracted by contact with Agent Orange, but that did not slow him down. Not one bit.
